“Volunteers are not paid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.”
More than 400 volunteers are needed to help make the 2018 NHSMTC a success. Can we count on you to help?
We’re looking for lawyers, legal professionals and community members to score rounds of competition, usher competitors through our courthouses, serve as room liaisons, and help coordinate team registrations and events.
The four preliminary rounds of competition will take place at the Second Judicial District Courthouse, the Mills B. Lane Justice Center and the Bruce R. Thompson Federal Courthouse. There will be 23 to 25 trials happening simultaneously and each trial will be overseen by a panel including a Presiding Judge and three Scoring Jurors, who are attorneys and judges.
Competition rounds take place Friday morning and afternoon and Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening. Please consider judging for more than one round of competition, if your schedule permits.
New to judging mock trial? We will hold brief orientations prior to the morning and afternoon rounds on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12. These orientations are mandatory for all judges and here, you will receive your materials and room assignments. Breakfast and lunches will also be served.
Event Volunteers will serve a vital role in the success of our competition. We need people to help with registration, during events, and while teams are traveling to and from the courthouses. We also need people willing to serve as Courtroom Liaisons who will be assigned to judging panels and will ensure that score sheets are collected and returned to Competition Staff.
